How tick values work

A tick is the smallest price increment a futures contract can move. The tick value is the dollar-and-cents P&L impact of a one-tick move on one contract. The point value is the dollar impact of a one-point move (tick value ÷ tick size).

For prop firm evaluations you usually work in ticks, not points. An ES contract earning $12.50 per tick means a 20-tick target move is $250 per contract, before commission and slippage.
